We speak to managing director, Mike Brooks:

What is the best thing about being in the bridging finance business?

Every day is different, interesting and for the most part, fun!

What keeps you focused?

Doing things properly and feeling proud about the work we do and the situations we finance.

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

Trust, humour and a good old fashioned work ethic.

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

I’m the definition of an optimistic pessimist!

What did you want to be as a child?

A chicken farmer – I had 50 chickens as a kid and my first business was selling their eggs. Made a fortune for an 11 year old.

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging finance industry in the coming months?

Doing the right thing, and not doing the wrong thing.

Who or what makes you laugh?

My old school friends…. humour definitely gets better with age!

Do you dread Monday mornings?

No. Everyday I wake up is a good day!!

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I’d love to be a mega piano player.

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

Assuming it would be a totally open conversation. Chatham House rules and unlimited red wine. The Queen. I think she has had the most incredible life and must have some blinding stories!
