We speak to Business Development Manager, Ian Miller-Hawes:

What is the best thing about being in the bridging finance business?

The complex nature of the cases. I really enjoy getting stuck into cases and looking for solutions for brokers and clients

What keeps you focused?

Having a clear plan of action and knowing what I’m doing on a day to day basis. This is so I can give the best service possible.

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

Fun, enthusiastic, hardworking individuals. I really enjoy working with people that can challenge me as I am always happy to learn from others and how I can help them and vice versa.

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

Optimist when discussing enquiries with brokers and underwriters, you must always look for the positive.

What did you want to be as a child?

I would have loved to have been a footballer, However many injuries later, I have finally realised that I cannot be a professional footballer and have chosen a far less risky career path.

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging finance industry in the coming months?

Brexit will be the biggest threat to the bridging industry with the uncertainty of what type of deal we are going to get once we leave.

However, there are still people out there wanting to buy/build and rent property.

Who or what makes you laugh?

After seeing Jimmy Carr live in my early 20’s he has always been able to make me laugh when times are tough.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

Not at all I love my job and know that I can make a difference during the week and even at the weekend if my wife allows me to have my work phone.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

It would have to be my eye sight I have worn contact lenses for over 10 years now and would love to have 20/20 vision again.

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

Being a life long West Ham fan it would have to be Bobby Moore. If not to hear all the stories about West Ham but to learn about his leadership skills also.
