Together has announced the appointment of a new head of corporate portfolio within its corporate real estate lending team.

Simon Carrier will lead the team of corporate portfolio directors and managers responsible for managing and nurturing its existing corporate customer relationships, and widening the specialist lender’s network of corporate clients and advisers as it continues to grow its presence across the UK.

Simon brings with him 30 years experience in finance, working across a number of international banks.

He began his career as a graduate at Natwest, where he quickly worked his way up the ranks to a senior relationship director.

From here, he joined Bank of Ireland as corporate director, looking after the company’s large clients for nearly four years.

He then joined Santander as a regional director, responsible for overseeing the bank’s corporate and commercial strategy across the Merseyside and Northern Wales.

Simon also spent time at Shawbrook Bank, then joining Dow Schofield Watts and latterly Leonard Curtis within the debt advisory space, before joining Cheadle-based Together.

Simon said:

“I am incredibly pleased to be joining the team at Together. I was immediately attracted to its common-sense approach to lending, and the potential the company has to grow further.

I am a firm supporter of Together’s ethos of building and maintaining strong personal relationships with all our customers.

The varied experience that I bring to the role, having worked in a variety of banking teams, leaves me well placed to  develop and lead the corporate team and support customers in achieving their funding ambitions.

Together is undergoing an exciting and ambitious period of change, and I look forward to overseeing the team’s development at this exciting time.”

In its recent quarterly results, Together announced that its loan book had increased to £7.6billion, up 14.7% on the year before.

Simon said:

“Together’s results speak for themselves; it’s a company that is achieving huge success, and with that comes change and development.

I particularly like its common-sense, flexible approach to cases, taking the time to understand each client’s individual circumstances and working to find the best solutions for them.

On the appointment, Martin Souter, group credit & risk director at Together, said:

“We are really pleased to welcome Simon to the team here at Together.

He brings considerable experience from a 30 year career as a relationship banker and debt advisor, as in leadership, building and developing high performing teams.

His passion, experience and drive will really help us as we look to take our business to the next level.”
