Specialist mortgage brokerage Word On The Street has appointed Stephen Burns as Partner, effective immediately.
Steve – former co-founder and COO of AFIG, previously known as Adapt Finance – is a hugely important hire for Word On The Street, which has its sights set on significant growth in 2024 and beyond.
The addition of Steve to the business means that it can leverage his extensive 25-plus years experience and network to reach more borrowers and forge stronger, deeper relationships with lenders.
Stephen commented:
“When I first met [founder] Michael Street some 3 years ago, there was an instant spark between us.
His vision, passion and ambition for the business was evident and our relationship has continued to grow and flourish.
Word On The Street is a young, dynamic brokerage and the prospect of working with Michael and Jasmine to build something special is an opportunity I am genuinely thrilled to be taking up.
I am looking forward to sharing my enthusiasm for deals, obsession with exceptional service levels, and utilising my relationships with lenders to drive the company’s growth plans.
This is a company that is going places, and I am really glad to be a part of it.”
Launched in July 2022 by Michael Street and Jasmine Ough, the Manchester-based business is focused on re-defining mortgage broking for property developers and investors, across a range of products including bridging, development, commercial and BTL finance.
Michael previously held positions at specialist lenders Together and MS Lending Group (where he facilitated in excess of £150m in lending over six years, cumulatively) and Jasmine, who also worked at Together, has an extensive 10-year background in real estate and mortgage advice.
Michael Street commented:
“We could not be more excited about Steve joining us—the smiles are yet to leave our faces.
Our desire in communicating and finding the right solution is what has made us stand out, and bringing Steve onboard serves to strengthen our values and commitment to our clients.
With my understanding of lender expectations, Jasmine’s regulatory knowledge, and Steve’s undeniably impressive stature as a bridging and development finance expert, we’re ready to really expand on the number of borrowers we are able to support.
Above all, he’s a fantastic human being who we already love dearly, and we’re extremely proud to have him on board.”
Jasmine commented:
“We’ve well and truly hit the nail on the head.
It has only been a short period between the conversations starting to us welcoming Steve into our small family.
He is a juggernaut in this industry and his addition to the team will pay dividends in the months and years to come. We cannot wait to get started.”
