We speak to Head of Underwriting, Rachel Davies:

What is the best thing about being in the bridging finance business?

They tend to be smaller businesses, so it’s refreshing to be able to make quick decisions without the bureaucracy of larger financial organisations

What keeps you focussed?

Deadlines and collecting my 9 month Daughter from the Childminder!

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

I like people to be proactive and have the same sense of urgency as me.

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

Having worked on the sales and risk side I suppose I am both, depending on the situation.

What did you want to be as a child?

No burning ambitions but maybe a Teacher or I was fascinated with ‘Are you Being Served’, but now I just love to shop!

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging finance industry in the coming months?

Ensuring that we differentiate ourselves and offer great service – otherwise it becomes purely price driven, which ultimately drives down everyone’s margins.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

No – I love the challenge of a new week.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

To slow down sometimes.
