We speak to commercial director Matthew Anderson:

What is the best thing about being in the bridging finance business?

Diversity – no two loans are the same. And the great variety of characters in the industry.

What keeps you focused?

The diversity that the job and each day brings.

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

Team players with a common focus.

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

My glass is overflowing!

What did you want to be as a child?

I was never really sure! I fell into banking/finance whilst I figured out what I wanted to do – 35 years later….

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging finance industry in the coming months?

Arrears and non performing loans. We have been operating in a fragile market for some time and if that continues lenders will come undoubtedly  under pressure – is there sufficient experience in the industry to deal with this?

This will then have a knock on effect in the confidence of those who fund/invest in the short term lending industry.

Who or what makes you laugh?

Al Murray.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

No.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Wish I didn’t drink! Would have saved a fortune over the years!

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

David Attenborough, Geoff Boycott  or Cameron Diaz!
