By Tony Sanchez
In our latest Five Minute Interview, Tony Sanchez speaks to Cameron Levitt, Relationship Manager at Avamore Capital.
Cameron joined Avamore Capital in February 2022 as an Internal Relationship Manager.
Prior to this, he was a Senior Valuer at the largest estate agent in Sussex; during his time, he led, managed and grew a highly successful sales team through one of the busiest periods in the housing market to date.
His insights have provided a strong foundation for his move into the specialist lending space and his sales focused experience means that he is in a strong position to support Avamore’s Relationship Managers and provide outstanding service to the broker market.
Progressing fast within the team, he was quickly promoted to an external Relationship Manager.
This year alone he has been nominated for ‘Rising Star of the Year’ four times!
Winning once, with two yet to be announced next week at different events.
Outside of work, Cameron has a keen interest in playing sports including football, golf and boxing.
What is the best thing about being in the bridging and development finance business?
The best thing about being in this industry is by far the people.
We have such a diverse and excellent group of people that work amongst brokerages, professionals like valuers, solicitors, monitoring surveyors, and other lenders too!
What keeps you focused?
The art of a deal!
Problem solving the more complicated deals, finding a way to get the loan done can be a complex, yet rewarding process!
This really keeps focus on each deal as they are all so unique with their individual challenges.
What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?
Dependability 100%!
By far the most important quality is having a team around you that you can absolutely trust in any scenario to get the work done correctly and ensure every scenario has as positive an outcome as possible.
Are you an optimist or a pessimist?
Optimist absolutely, you cannot be a BDM and not be optimistic!
What did you want to be as a child?
A scuba diving instructor, I even did my qualifications up to Advanced Open Water and started the Master Diver certification!
What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging and development finance industry in the coming months?
The greatest challenge will be overcoming the current prices of land.
Vendors are still being very optimistic with their pricing and more and more people are entering the planning gain industry.
Although there always should be profit to be made in these scenarios, there is a fine line that needs to be walked between the profit within planning gain and the development itself being viable.
There have been many successful developments recently where developers having taken the planning risk on themselves by purchasing unconsented land, and we are yet to see the impact of the new government on planning in general.
Who or what makes you laugh?
Will Ferrell films and Ricky Gervais.
Do you dread Monday mornings?
Monday mornings are always the most productive time for catching up with ongoing cases, chasing valuers, solicitors and clients to get deals done!
How can anyone dread that?
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I would bring my shoe size down to an eleven, finding shoes is a nightmare when you get to size twelve and above!!
With whom would you most like to have dinner?
Gazza… what a man!
