Kay Williams Ultimate Finance

In our latest Five Minute Interview, Tony Sanchez speaks to Kay Williams, Regional Sales Director at Ultimate Finance.

Kay has over 20 years of experience in the finance industry starting life as a branch manager in a high street bank and then transitioned into bridging.

Ultimate finance offers a solution led approach with structured funding against multi asset security.

Within bridging they aim to think outside the box and offer solutions that overcome challenges and maximise client funding needs.

What is the best thing about being in the bridging finance business?

I love that every day is unique and brings its own challenges and opportunities.

I get excited at being able to assist people with both a flexible and pragmatic approach in such a fast paced environment

What keeps you focused?

I want to be the best version of myself that I can be and at the same time be good at what I do and deliver great service.

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

I appreciate honesty, as I can be a very direct person and transparency, is important to good relationships at all levels.

A positive mental attitude, hard work and laughter are all ingredients to a happy work place.

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

I’m an optimist, a glass half full person but with a touch of pragmatism.

Always look for the positive aspects within a situation but balance with reality.

What did you want to be as a child?

I wanted to be a biochemist like my aunt as wearing a lab coat and experimenting looked fun but as I never majored in sciences that was never going to become a reality.

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging finance industry in the coming months?

With the potential for huge interest rate rises lenders need to communicate clearly and promptly with their customers about the product offering available and the changes that may ensue.

Cost of materials is affecting projects and elongating timescales so as lenders we have to offer practical and flexible solutions.

Who or what makes you laugh?

Peter Kay, he is the best comedian.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

It takes me a while to get going as I’m not a morning person but after a great weekend and a chance to reset I look forward to a new set of opportunities to harness.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I like the person that I have become so after learning golf for a year it would have to be to get a good golf handicap and beat everyone at our next Ultimate Golf event.

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

Oprah Winfrey for the interesting stories about the rich and famous, Alan Carr for entertainment value and Beyonce to perform in between sittings.
