‘I really enjoy the fast pace of the industry’
By Tony Sanchez
This year, Alternative Bridging Corporation celebrated its 30th year of lending.
We speak to one of its BDMs, Taylor Osunsedo, about how this helps them to stand out from the crowd, what he likes about his job and why brokers keep returning to the lender.
What is the best thing about being in the bridging and development finance business?
The best bit about the Job is meeting new people. Every day is different and we are always talking to new brokers who want to find out how Alternative Bridging can help their clients.
I really enjoy the fast pace of the industry.
What keeps you focused?
No two days are the same! Every case is unique and each comes with its own challenges.
I really enjoy working together with brokers on finding solutions for their clients.
What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?
Attitude is key and I like working with people who are proactive. It’s also important to be able to have a good laugh.
Are you an optimist or a pessimist?
I am an optimist. If you’re in a sales role I think it’s important to be an optimist and maintain a positive attitude.
What did you want to be as a child?
I always dreamed of being a 100m runner in the Olympics.
What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging and development finance industry in the coming months?
Inflation and the cost of living crisis are clearly at the top of the agenda. It impacts a lot of elements of the market.
We still don’t know what impact it will have on property prices in the medium term, and rising interest rate rises mean a tightening of mortgage affordability, which could impact exit routes.
In this uncertain environment, people may be less inclined to invest in property, although we are still seeing strong demand from brokers.
For lenders, one challenge is standing out in a crowded market. There are a lot of lenders in this sector with similar offerings.
At Alternative Bridging, our impressive 30 years of experience, combined with our innovate products like the Alternative Overdraft and Development 90 help us to stand out, but it’s really our service and can-do attitude that encourage brokers to keep coming back to us.
Who or what makes you laugh?
Ricky Gervais, The Inbetweeners, and Tottenham Hotspur’s trophy cabinet.
Do you dread Monday mornings?
No, I work with a great team and I enjoy my role, so I don’t dread Mondays at all.
Although, I’m not keen on mornings. See below.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I’d like to be more of a morning person.
With whom would you most like to have dinner?
Thierry Henry and Ian Wright, Arsenal’s two greatest strikers. It would also be a good laugh!
