‘Communication is a massive part of my makeup’

Chris Britto

In our latest five minute interview, Tony Sanchez speaks to Chris Britto, Director at Bridgemore Capital.

Bridgemore Capital is a specialist property finance broker.

Its directors have over 15 years of hands-on experience in property finance, developing and sourcing their own projects.

As developers and investors themselves, they follow the same path as their clients, offering the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to help investors and developers secure funding to bring projects to life.

What is the best thing about being in the bridging finance business?

The relationships, not just with clients, but with the various BDMs, solicitors, valuers, underwriters.

These relationships are key to drive a variety of deal types through to fruition and for me this becomes easy when you have the right relationships in place.

What keeps you focused?

My promise to going above and beyond for my clients and my constant desire for a job well done.

Communication is a massive part of my makeup, so for me, any call or WhatsApp gets answered in minimal time, but it does me no favours in the evenings.

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

Strong communication, going above and beyond for clients and ultimately the desire to build strong relationships built on trust, work ethic and personality

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

Probably more pessimistic, but my business partner has the main optimist mantle so it works for our business.

What did you want to be as a child?

A footballer, old school Ronaldo.

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging finance industry in the coming months?

Margins being squeezed on build costs, QS/valuers continuing to protect their PI.

I also believe there are a lot of brokers who simply try to do too much rather than just sticking to specialist finance, where, for me, it’s a whole unique industry in itself where you need to match the right lender with the client/project.

Who or what makes you laugh?

Currently, the fact that I support Manchester United. Otherwise, the fact that I still think I’m 30!

Do you dread Monday mornings?

Before Bridgemore Capital launched, yes, but now I am buzzing to get into the office with the team.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Take more risks and care less about what others think.

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – the arrogance combined with comedy is just unbelievable.
