TFG Capital, established in 2014, provides companies and property professionals with a route to no nonsense bridging finance with lending decisions based solely on the security value.

Their terms are flexible and their ability to work to extremely tight deadlines combined with a no-nonsense approach to lending provides a level of comfort and certainty that is unique in the marketplace.

Tony Sanchez speaks to Luke Flanagan, Assistant Manager, National Brokers.

What is the best thing about being in the bridging and development finance business?

I love the fact that every day is different in the bridging and development finance industry, whether that be out meeting clients and brokers, or sat in the office trying to deliver an urgent completion for a borrower.

What keeps you focused?

I like to set myself regular targets which I find always helps me stay focused and concentrate on the task at hand. Manging the schedule of tasks required to achieve the targeted deadline date is always focus driven.

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

Hardworking and dedicated. These are probably the two most important requirements of life within TFG and collectively as a team we are always pulling in the same direction towards the end goal.

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

Optimist. I’m always looking on the positive side. Negativity is just not in my vocabulary.

What did you want to be as a child?

Like most young lads I always dreamed of being a professional footballer (although I think I realised at an early age I didn’t have the ability to achieve this).

However, it appears that maths was one of my key attributes and as both my parents worked in the finance industry, I was destined to end up in the same profession.

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging & development finance industry in the coming months?

I think as we see lockdown restrictions ease off and life return to normal, many businesses will require funding to get back on their feet.

Taking this into consideration along with the fact that the number of government support schemes are coming to an end then the sheer volume of enquiries will be a challenge in itself.

Who or what makes you laugh?

Our very own Operations Director, Andrew Hunt, is always a guaranteed laugh.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

No, I actually look forward to them. I generally find myself thinking about what faces me on a Monday whilst watching the football on a Sunday afternoon! Just planning ahead!

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

My patience is definitely something I would like to improve on. I think that in my day to day environment everything works at such a fast pace so I like to think that everyone else will be the same as me.

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

Cristiano Ronaldo. My absolute favourite player of all time.
