9 in 10 buyers would repeat home condition survey experience

Consumer research conducted by Countrywide Surveying Services (CSS) and Pegasus Insight, has shown that 88% of consumers who used a home condition survey said they would do so again.
Additionally, 92% of respondents reported that their survey gave them peace of mind, further highlighting the importance and value attached to independent property assessments.
The research also found that 60% of home condition surveys uncovered previously unknown property issues, a key factor in helping buyers to avoid unexpected costs and post purchase complications.
To address industry concerns that detailed surveys might delay transactions or trigger renegotiations, the data tells a different story.
Only 9% of buyers received a valuation below the agreed purchase price, and just 2% decided not to proceed with their purchase after the survey.
Rather than hindering sales, home condition surveys provide buyers with greater confidence in their investment, ultimately supporting a stable and informed property market.
Furthermore, the research highlights a significant knowledge gap among first-time buyers (FTBs), with 73% lacking confidence in navigating their property purchase.
This demonstrates the importance of home condition surveys in bridging this gap and providing FTBs with the necessary information to make more informed homebuying decisions.
