Zenzic Capital (“Zenzic”), the real estate credit and special situations investment manager, has made two new appointments as it continues to grow its team.

Based in Zenzic’s London headquarters, both hires will report into Simon Brown, who recently joined the firm as Head of Real Estate Development Finance Lending.

Richard Clouston has been appointed as VP, Development Finance, and brings almost 10 years’ real estate lending experience to the firm.

He joins Zenzic from the Bank of New Zealand, where he spent eight years in their Auckland office, most recently as Client Director with a leading role in the delivery of NZ$620 million (c. £290 million) of investment and development finance to real estate clients in a number of sectors.

Richard’s role will involve building on existing and establishing new relationships with introducers, UK residential property developers and property investors.

Edward Barnes joins Zenzic as a Credit Analyst from Westpac Banking Corporation in Melbourne, Australia, where he spent three years as an Assistant Relationship Manager in their Property Finance team.

At Zenzic he will be responsible for research, financial analysis and transactions underwriting, predominantly for real estate mezzanine and senior debt opportunities.

Since its foundation in 2014, Zenzic has provided debt finance throughout the UK and Europe into a number of different sectors including logistics, student accommodation, residential, hotels and leisure.

In January, Zenzic launched a new £500 million UK purpose-built student accommodation strategy, which will invest in existing stock and develop new assets.

Simon Brown, Head of Real Estate Development Finance Lending at Zenzic Capital, commented:

“These latest hires continue the impressive growth trajectory of Zenzic Capital and will allow us to unlock and complete more lending opportunities as we position ourselves as a leading provider of bespoke real estate finance in the UK.

Both Richard and Edward have already brought a great deal of ability and enthusiasm to their new roles and I’m sure will be valuable additions to our expanding team.

I look forward to working with them both.”
