Shawbrook Bank today (Wednesday, September 23rd) announced it has appointed a new Commercial Director for its Consumer division.

Amrita Kohli, pictured, takes up the position having played a significant role in Consumer’s foundational success and growth in recent years.

She joined the Bank in 2016, helping to deliver and launch Shawbrook’s initial Personal Loans proposition.

Her remit as Commercial Director will now focus on maintaining and strengthening relationships with distribution partners, as well as enhancing overall customer journeys and outcomes through innovation and technology.

She said:

“It is a great feeling to take on the role of Commercial Director; a role which I believe is a perfect next step in my career with Shawbrook and one that offers me outstanding opportunities from which to help shape the future direction of Consumer.

“Product innovation, open banking and how we utilise data and emerging software and technology as part of the post-Covid-19‘ new normal’ is going to be vitally important for us.

The consumer division is extremely data-driven and so the ability to take advantage of new tech and the data it provides will enable us to provide better-aligned products as well as enhance our overall decision making – and that can only be a positive for the consumer.”

As well as developing and delivering Shawbrook’s personal loans proposition, Amrita played an instrumental role in securing key strategic partnerships with the likes of RAC and Tesco.

As Product Manager for Personal Loans, she was specifically tasked with looking after the Bank’s ‘real rate’ loans proposition and worked with digital distribution partners to offer the product into the market.

Her Shawbrook career includes stints as Product Manager, Senior Product Manager and Head of Proposition & Delivery prior to being named Commercial Director.

Paul Went, Shawbrook’s Managing Director for Consumer, said:

“This position attracted a high level of interest both internally and externally – and quite rightly – as it is a key role that will play a significant part in helping to shape the future path of Shawbrook’s Consumer operation.

“Having been a part of the Consumer team since 2016, Amrita brings with her a wealth of knowledge and expertise, not just in how we operate as a business unit, but also from more than two decades working in the UK’s wider finance industry.

“I am delighted that Amrita has taken up the position of Commercial Director and I very much look forward to seeing the impact she has on both the division itself and in the products and outcomes that we can offer our customers.”

Amrita – who will focus on change management, product delivery and execution, as well as supplier management and oversight as key parts of her new remit – added:

“It has been a wonderful journey within Shawbrook so far and I am so pleased to be taking on this role. I believe it will give me even more opportunity to play a part in the future of the division and Shawbrook’s role in the wider consumer lending and personal loans markets.”

Shawbrook’s Consumer division provides real rate personal loans which are used by consumers for various purposes such as car finance, weddings, home improvements and debt consolidation.

It supports those who are underserved by the major high street banks and prides itself on providing customers with a personalised guaranteed rate from the outset.

Its Five Point Transparency Charter represents Shawbrook’s commitment to transparency in the marketing of personal loans and the Bank promises fairness and transparency with everyone that applies for a personal loan.
