MBE London Expo

Mortgage Business Expo (MBE) at the Barbican on 10th October will include a specialist lending panel debate hosted by the Financial Intermediary and Broker Association (FIBA) and the L&G Mortgage Club will host a workshop on later life lending.

Other key speakers will include David Whittaker of Keystone Property Finance, Louisa Sedgwick of Vida Homeloans, Mark Dryden of 360 Lifecycle and Michael Nicholls of The London Institute of Banking & Finance.

All of the seminars and panel debates are accredited to qualify for valuable Cll CPD points.

The FIBA debate will cover the specialist property finance sector and how brokers can succeed in the current market, and help delegates get a greater understanding of the opportunities within the specialist lending industry. The panellists are Mark Posniak of Octane Capital, Roger Morris of Precise Mortgages, Guy Harrington from Glenhawk, Sven Peter of InterBridge and Peter Barton from  Ashfords LLP.

Adam Tyler, the Executive Chairman of FIBA, said:

“I’m delighted to have the opportunity to debate the key issues in the specialist property finance sector. There are many scenarios impacting our markets and I aim to provide the very latest thinking and viewpoints to financial intermediaries at an important time for the finance sector.”

The L&G Mortgage club will also host four expert presentations followed by a panel debate covering later life lending. The aim is to explore the market and the opportunities for the over 55s, looking at traditional lending, Equity Release and new initiatives such as RIO mortgages, and how brokers can become more involved in this market. They will also cover the recent IMLA report on advice in this sector.

Danny Belton, Head of Lender Relationships at Legal & General Mortgage Club, said:

“As the percentage of over 55s of the UK population increases, the mortgage market has seen an increase in demand from these customers who require good lending solutions. Lenders have responded to the challenge with a variety of products and criteria for the over 55s, from the standard mortgage to Retirement Interest Only, and Equity Release. All these product areas present great opportunities for customers, but more so for Brokers, as advice for these customers is still very important and valued.”

Mike Mikunda, from MBE commented:

“We are excited to announce that we have L&G Mortgage Club and FIBA hosting informative industry debates at MBE London. The Q&A sessions will be very much welcomed by brokers and IFAs as MBE provides the ideal environment for delegates to interact with industry experts and hear the latest thinking on a range of important topics.

“MBE seminars also benefit from being CII accredited so IFAs and mortgage advisers can earn valuable CPD points. We strongly believe our seminars, delivered by notable industry figures, can help with tangible business benefits for our delegates.”
