Specialist finance provider Together has been named as one of the UK’s best 100 mid-size companies to work for, thanks to the support of its 600-plus colleagues.
Having entered The Sunday Times survey for the first time, the financial services group went straight into the top 40, ranking at an impressive 34 in the UK and making the top ten in the North West. The company was recognised with a two star rating, indicating outstanding levels of engagement.
Together also won this year’s special award for ‘Giving Something Back’ in the mid-size category, thanks to its commitment to corporate social responsibility, coming in at ninth place with its score for charity efforts and 10th for community.
Now in its 18th year, the annual survey gathers data from across all sectors, and this year’s analysis includes the views of 441,713 employees, covering categories including leadership, wellbeing, giving something back, personal growth and getting a fair deal.
In total, 798 organisations took part in the survey, but against fierce competition, Together’s colleague-focused culture ensured it charted high up the list on its first attempt.
Group chairman of Together, Mike McTighe said:
“I’m delighted that we have been recognised as one of the UK’s best companies to work for. Together is a very special place to work, with a unique and very positive culture created by our founder and embodied by all of our colleagues.
“This culture is at the heart of our ability to attract and retain great people, with over 200 new colleagues joining us in the last 18 months. It has also driven our strong growth, with all of our colleagues sharing in Together’s identity and playing their part in our continued success. That’s something that has been acknowledged by our inclusion here in the top 100 and is an achievement we can be very proud of.”
Together’s HR director Kevin Fisher added:
“It’s essential for us that our colleagues feel valued and that they’re part of something exciting here at Together, so I’m absolutely thrilled with the results of the survey and want to thank everyone who works here for making this happen.
“We’re always listening to our colleagues to make sure we’re continually evolving, and enhancing what we offer, to make Together a brilliant place to work. For example, our comprehensive training programme helps develop future talent, as well as nurturing our current leaders and managers, which is really important as we prepare for further growth, and there are so many opportunities for those with the drive to progress.
“Our colleagues are also really passionate in their support of our partner charities, our community, and the environment, and bring their wide-ranging skill sets to help us give something back, so we’re especially proud to have received further recognition for this with the special award, which is thanks to them.”
The business has offices in Manchester and London and has seen considerable growth in recent years, with its headcount increasing by more than a quarter in 2017 and recruitment ongoing for many newly-created roles. Together also expanded its head offices last year, moving into the neighbouring building on Cheadle Royal Business Park. The company recently announced record lending and has a current loan book of more than £2.55 billion.
