Another big name signing for Stratton Funding

Stratton Funding are delighted to confirm that Ugochuko “Ugo” Ehiogu, the former Aston Villa legend and full England International has joined the Board of Stratton Funding as a Non Executive Director.

Ugo is currently Coach of the Tottenham Hotspur U-21 Team where he places a unique emphasis on teaching young players the mental side of the game. Like fellow Stratton director Paul Elliott, Ugo uses his vast experience to mentor younger players and wherever possible help them to avoid the many pitfalls of the modern game.

Having enjoyed a hugely successful playing career over 20 years from 1989 until 2009, Ugo played the majority of his career in the Premier League with lengthy spells at Aston Villa and Middlesbrough. A cultured centre back, he also played in the Football League for West Bromwich Albion, Leeds and Sheffield United as well as a brief spell in Scotland with Glasgow Rangers.

Ugo was capped four times by England, the pinnacle of his international career coming in 2001 when he scored his only international goal in a 3-0 friendly win over Spain in a match played in front of many of his adoring club fans at Villa Park.

Since his playing career ended Ugo has also worked with the England U-20 Coaching Team prior to taking up his current role at Spurs. Outside of football he has a diverse range of interests, most notably founding his own successful record label “Dirty Hit” in 2009, which is distributed by Universal Music Group. Ugo’s been passionate about music since he was a child, thanks in no small measure to a big brother who was a successful DJ whilst he was growing up.

If Ugo’s big brother played a significant role in his passion for music then his father was equally influential in helping him manage his sporting success with sage advice on money management and indeed property investment. Ugo’s property interests have grown significantly since he finally hung up his boots and he has known Stratton Funding Managing Director John Clifford for nearly 5 years having made many successful investments in John’s original lending platform, Central Bridging.

Having built a close and trusted relationship with John it is perhaps no surprise that Ugo has referred a number of professional colleagues who have also successfully utilised John’s services, so the opportunity to join the Board at Stratton Funding was very much a logical next step for Ugo. There can perhaps be no better advocate of the Stratton proposition than Ugo who has enjoyed first-hand experience of the transparency and service excellence that is Stratton’s hallmark.

Working closely with Paul, John and the rest of the Stratton Team, Ugo is really excited about the part he can play in building a lending platform in which his fellow sporting and business professionals can place an implicit trust. His only concern is that with his time divided between Spurs, Dirty Hit and Stratton there will be even less opportunity for him to slip away for the occasional 18 holes of golf. As a consequence who would bet against Ugo heading up a “Stratton Funding Pro-Am Golf Day” in the not too distant future!?”
