We speak to sales director Roger Morris:

What is the best thing about being in the bridging finance business?

No day is the same. Most people’s job never change much, their lives don’t really alter. But in Short Term lending you never know what will happen next.

The ability to be a creator and structure a deal and see it come to fruition is amazing.

What keeps you focussed?

The instant connection from the first call to paying out the loan, the intensity of the deal, pulling it all together, and looking at exit strategies.

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

The same passion and commitment to customer service and satisfaction that I have. Sharing the same drive that gets me up in the morning and keeps me awake at night.

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

What is a pessimist? I don’t and cannot understand that concept. It’s been explained to me many times, but to me it’s an impossible state of mind.

I have no time and no patience for anyone who doesn’t have a “can do approach”.

What did you want to be as a child?

A multi-millionaire and drop dead gorgeous. I have achieved the second, but still in pursuit of the first.

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging finance industry in the coming months?

Charging of retained interest and the unnecessary use of two legal representatives.

Who or what makes you laugh?

Everything in life makes me laugh or just about. I always look for happiness where ever I can find it. I try and smile and make people laugh as much as I possibly can.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

Not on a bank holiday. No, not at all. When you have been given what god gave me you don’t dread anything.

To be able to get up on a Monday morning, have a purpose, have health, and have a job is truly amazing.

How can anyone who is given another day to live having anything but a positive attitude to make the most of any given day.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

To be a nicer person to maybe have more time to help other people and maybe think more about ways of making people feel good about themselves.

Be mindful more to notice when someone needs a hug no matter how busy I am to stop and make time for them.

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

That’s easy Margaret Thatcher, whom I was lucky enough to meet in the Ritz.  A truly amazing lady.
