We speak to director, Kim McGinley:

What is the best thing about being in the bridging and development finance business?

I love how no one day is the same and every case is different!  It’s something that I’ve always loved about specialist finance.

What keeps you focused?

My family. They are my ‘why’ and my sole reason I work as hard as I do. They are on this incredible journey with me and ride the highs as well as the lows making sacrifices along the way.

I truly hope that when my children grow up they know that mummy really did try her best in the various aspects of my life; personal as well as professional and that it was all for them.

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

Hard working all day long, someone willing to learn (we are all learning every day!), that isn’t afraid of being out of their comfort zone and doesn’t take themselves too seriously.

To fit into our team a sense of humour is an absolute must!

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

10000% optimist. It is the only way I have been able to ride out 2020 the way I have.

What did you want to be as a child?

An actress – I always loved drama at school, it was one of the only subjects I received an A* in. It is something I often wonder about the classic ‘what if’s’ had I pursued it.

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging and development finance industry in the coming months?

Without a doubt it will be ‘uncertainty’ – a word we are all becoming very accustomed to.

The property market has remained resilient however who knows what the coming months may bring?

The whole world has been brought to a standstill in an unprecedented time never seen before.

But with change comes opportunity, so I focus on that part.

Who or what makes you laugh?

Things that shouldn’t make me laugh, actually do! Laughing is one of the best things you can do (at the right time!) Sometimes if I don’t laugh, I’ll cry lol.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

I haven’t dreaded a Monday morning or any working day since starting VIBE.

I love what I do with an absolute passion and so if anything, I’m excited to start the day.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I’ve always been told I need to get better at delegating, and I know that I do. I’m still learning all of the time in running a business, it’s crazy at times!

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

Tom Hanks – I’ve loved him ever since I was younger watching all of his films!  I bet he has some stories to tell.
