We speak to director, Ian Ferguson:

What is the best thing about being in the bridging finance business?

Every deal that we see is different and each present their own challenges whether that is matching the Client with the correct lender or simply down to managing a case through to completion and navigating the legal issues that may crop up along the way.

What keeps you focussed?

By nature, I am very conscientious and the desire to get things right and to continue to improve is my driving force which ultimately translates into the lifestyle I can provide for my family by way of salary etc.

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

Honesty and integrity along with a desire to do the best job they can and the ability to get on with colleagues.

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

Optimist – Walsall one day will win the Premier League.

What did you want to be as a child?

England Football captain.

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging finance industry in the coming months?

The pessimist politicians and reporters that will influence the economy as we head towards Brexit. There is business out there and we need to get on with it.

Who or what makes you laugh?

My mother in law – just hilarious.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

Never.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

As I’ve acquired more grey hairs than I care to see my short-term memory is not as good as it was so I would love to roll back the clock on that and get rid a mountain of post it notes.

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

I can’t separate Gary Lineker or Paul Gascoigne so to dine with both would be great to reminisce about the National team and competitions through 86 to 96.
