Vantage Finance is one of the UK’s leading specialist packagers. Established in 2004, its expert team offers secured loans, buy-to-let mortgages, commercial finance, short term loans (bridging loans) and development finance for intermediaries.

We speak to sales director, Jon Daniels:

What is the best thing about being in the bridging finance business?

Through most of my career I have worked with Insurance products, giving customers the critical protection they require should the worst happen, so it is great to be working in sector that is helping people to fulfil their dreams rather than deal with their nightmares.

What keeps you focussed?

I always have in my mind that whatever I am doing I don’t want to let my family or colleagues down, so that thought process usually helps keep focus and is also a useful gauge to know if you are making the right decision.

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

Transparency, commitment and team work, as well as a sense of humour.

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

With a background in insurance it has to be a pessimist as you have to constantly think about what is the worst thing that can happen, but that will obviously change now.

What did you want to be as a child?

A Formula One driver, but my driving skills and the weight limits of the drivers made that a none starter, so financial services it was.

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging finance industry in the coming months?

It has to be the uncertainty on the Brexit timetable and how that will impact lending over the next 12 months.

Who or what makes you laugh?

I laugh at mockumentary shows, Parks and Recreation, Car share etc.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

I sometimes dread the idea of Monday mornings (usually on a Sunday evening) but actually enjoy the start of a new week and the challenges and surprises that lay ahead.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Better driver, eat less and I could be an F1 world champion!

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

My family, on holiday, somewhere sunny.
