‘Confidence drives this market and it can shift overnight’

Charlie Jones

In our latest Five Minute Interview, Tony Sanchez speaks to Charlie Jones, Relationship Manager at Funding 365.

Golf pro, Charlie, joined Funding 365 in early 2025. His dedication, keen judgement and honed people skills meant that the transition from golf to specialist finance was a smooth one.

That said, he doesn’t need much persuasion to get back on the green with brokers who share his passion for pairing competitive funding solutions with a four-ball.

What is the best thing about being in the bridging finance business?

The fast paced environment and huge variety in enquiries we receive, which means that no two days are the same.

What keeps you focused?

Wanting to keep improving and progressing keeps me focused. I have so much to learn after moving into the industry after a 10+ year career in golf.

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

I gravitate towards people who are easy to communicate with and have a good sense of humour. That, plus being trustworthy and hardworking, is why the team at Funding 365 are the best.

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

I think I sit somewhere in the middle. I always try to be optimistic where I can, though.

What did you want to be as a child?

I started with the dream of being a professional footballer, like so many kids, but that was short lived.

As a teenager, I wanted to become a pro golfer, and I’m proud that I still have my pro status to this day.

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging and development finance industry in the coming months?

Confidence in the property market. I feel like we’re over the worst of it, but it can all change overnight.

Who or what makes you laugh?

Jimmy Carr. I saw him live last year and was in constant laughter for the two hours he performed.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

I don’t now! I have done so in the past at times, but it’s hard to dread a Monday working with the team at Funding 365.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Being a Crystal Palace fan… It was great for around 3 months last year, but apart from that it’s been a hard watch.

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

Anyone who wouldn’t judge the amount that I order!
