By

Steve Allen Hope Capital

Hope Capital is a principal bridging lender operating nationwide, lending against residential, retail, commercial and semi-commercial properties and land.

It prides itself on being quick, flexible, specialist and transparent. Every loan is underwritten individually and borrowers can use the loans for property purchase, refinance and an array of other business purposes, including debt consolidation and covering cash flow.

We speak to business development manager, Steve Allen:

What is the best thing about being in the bridging finance business?

Every day, every deal is different. Different challenges are what I embrace… it’s a very varied role and industry so you never get bored

What keeps you focused?

Being part of a great team both with my colleagues and clients.  I strive to achieve positive results.

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

People who strive to give a great service to clients plus like-minded colleagues who I have a strong relationship with.

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

Optimist, most of the time!

What did you want to be as a child?

Fighter pilot in the RAF

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging finance industry in the coming months?

I think it will be the fallout from Brexit which currently we don’t know the impact of.  It could be a real positive for Hope Capital, but it’s all simply unknown.

Who or what makes you laugh?

Sarcasm and I’m a huge fan and partaker in Dad jokes.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

No, I like Monday mornings. I’m happy in what I do and the company I work for.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I wish I’d always get it right when judging whether someone will appreciate my sarcasm or not!

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

I’d love to have dinner with Douglas Bader. I’d love to speak to him about the Battle of Britain and hear his stories of flying.
