The Five Minute Interview with Nina Goraya, Underwriter, Market Financial Solutions

Nina Goraya MFS

Market Financial Solutions is an award winning independent bridging finance provider that deals with a range of bespoke bridging solutions that are fast and flexible for all their intermediaries and clients.

We speak to underwriter, Nina Goraya:

What is the best thing about being in the bridging finance business?

Every day is different and you never know what’s in store throughout the day. There is always something to learn and I enjoy finding solutions to resolve complex circumstances that I’ve not come across before.

What keeps you focused?

The team in the office. Taking short breaks to have a laugh with colleagues before getting back to work; improves my focus on tasks throughout the day.

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

To be able to adapt quickly in a working environment, attention to detail and humour.

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

Both – Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

What did you want to be as a child?

An International Sommelier.

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging finance industry in the coming months?

I think the industry will face similar issues to the past two years given the current political climate and uncertainty around Brexit. In the current pandemic, some brokers have also noted a slow-down in the market but we’re still open for business and going strong! There are a lot of clients who have been let down by other lenders at the last minute and I think the market will pick up more towards the end of May / June as (we hope!) more projects get started again.

Who or what makes you laugh?

Alan Partridge.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

Monday morning isn’t exactly my favourite time of the week; however, I genuinely enjoy catching up with the MFS team so it’s not too bad.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

In the words of Skee-Lo: ‘I wish I was little bit taller, I wish I was a baller…’

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

Don Corleone would probably have a few good stories to keep me entertained, a laugh with Joanna Lumley or Tom Hardy.
