By

Matt Tristram

Loans Warehouse the Mortgage Strategy Best Specialist Broker 2012 , has been trading since 2006 and offers financial intermediaries the best range of Secured Loans found anywhere in the UK.

We speak to Managing Director Matt Tristram:

What is the best thing about being in the specialist finance business?

The challenge of building a company during one of the worst financial climates the country has ever seen.

No matter how bad things got we always paid our staff and introducers on time and now, as the climate improves and lenders return to the market, how do we grow Loans Warehouse, what directions do we take the company, new challenges almost daily.

What keeps you focussed?

Success. I want to be considered the very best at what I do, not just by my peers but more importantly by myself.

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

A personality, anyone can tick boxes but the ability to work with people is priceless

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

An optimist. At the Expo in 2010 I met a very well-known character in our industry for the first time, we chatted at his stand and then in the months to come this broker started to send us Secured Loan leads.

I asked him why us, conscious of the fact he had met many brokers at the Expo and he told me that Sam & I were the only people he met that day that talked about the future rather than just moan about the credit crunch.

What did you want to be as a child?

I was the kid who stood up at school assembly at the age of 9 and declared I would be a millionaire, live in Florida, have Mental Mickey as my house robot and drive Knight Rider as my car.

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging finance industry in the coming months?

Competition, whilst it’s a challenge it’s the best possible challenge.

Who or what makes you laugh?

Jokes like – Why men shouldn’t be Agony Aunts:

Dear Jim,

I left home for work last week and after less than a mile my car stalled and wouldn’t start I walked back to our home to find my husband in bed with our 19 year old babysitter. They announced that the affair had been going on for two years and that they were deeply in love. Can you help me I’m desperate!

Dear Reader,

The most common cause of vehicles breaking down in the first mile is dirt in the fuel lines, if this is not the cause its usually the Alternator.

Hope my advice helps.

Jim.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

Only up until the point Linda our customer retention manager makes my first cuppa, there is nothing in life that a good cuppa can’t fix

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I have the patience of a peanut.

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

My girlfriend, the most beautiful, funny person I know.
