We speak to Mark Posniak, Marketing & Operations Director:

What is the best thing about being in the bridging finance business?

Personally, I love the speed of the industry, the competition and the fact that what we do can make a real difference to brokers and their clients.

The fact that the industry has risen like a phoenix from the ashes of the credit crunch has also made it a fascinating time to be involved in bridging and specialist finance generally.

What keeps you focussed?

Wanting to continually outperform and outmanoeuvre the competition. And wanting to help brokers help their clients, which is always very satisfying.

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

The ability to work in a team and as an individual. We need team players but we also look for people who can stand alone and make their own decisions.

We also like to work with people who bring a sense of humour to the workplace. We work hard but we like to play hard and have fun, too.

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

The glass is always half full.

What did you want to be as a child?

A South African cricketer or rugby player. Come to think of it, any sport where I represented the Bokke on a national stage.

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging finance industry in the coming months?

For the foreseeable future the challenge will be to maintain momentum. The industry has witnessed exponential growth in recent years and it’s vital that it continues to develop and grow.

Who or what makes you laugh?

The England Rugby team.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

No, I love them. I can’t think of anything worse than dreading going into work on a Monday morning. It’s a shame that so many people don’t enjoy what they do.

Work is a huge part of your life and if you don’t enjoy what you’re doing in the week, you’re not enjoying your life.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

There is nothing I would change about myself. OK, maybe I’d add a few inches in height. And add a  bit of hair on top of my head.

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

Nelson Mandela.
