Annaliese Melvin, Business Development Manager, Apex Bridging

Apex Bridging was established six years ago, joining the successful portfolio of companies within HBB Relocations Limited.

Their team and directors have a wealth of knowledge and experience in property and lending. This gives the business the confidence to lend on value and not purchase price.

Apex Bridging have enhanced the reputation of the business and the bridging sector in general. They have achieved this through their commitment to their stakeholder model and its focus on collaboration, communication and education.

Their mission and background reinforces their integrity in a market that now has a growing reputation for quality options for short-term funding.

We speak to business development manager, Annaliese Melvin:

What is the best thing about being in the bridging finance business?

I have a very communicative role. I am fortunate enough to spend a lot of time with clients; building close relationships with those who believe what we believe and establishing friendships with so many of them.

What keeps you focused?

Momentum and deadlines.

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

A willingness to take ownership of tasks, support other team members with a surplus of work, and see things through to the end.

I have always been part of a tight-knit group that go above-and-beyond their call of duty.

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

An optimist through and through – I always look for the good in things.

What did you want to be as a child?

An architect. Or a fashion buyer. I recall making some fabulous feather slippers with Pritt Stick and staples when I was young (it probably wouldn’t have been the most successful career choice).

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging finance industry in the coming months?

With Brexit finally actioned and improvements in the property market, I think we should all be feeling positive about the prospect of moving nearer to some stability.

Nonetheless, the challenge is how the industry responds to further negotiations and the impending budget. We are preparing for a new outlook.

Who or what makes you laugh?

The Apex girls, every day. Anyone that knows our team will be familiar with the humour and personality behind the business.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

Not at all, I never switch off entirely, so Monday mornings are never tainted with dread.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I would be better at keeping in touch with old friends and distant family.

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

A group evening is more likely for me. But top of my guestlist would be Anna Wintour.
