REF CapitalIt may be the holiday season but there’s no let up for Shawbrook as they welcome new member Steve Eades of REF Capital to the pride.

Here’s what Steve had to say about starting to work with Shawbrook:

“My first contact with Shawbrook came about when I noticed them in the trade press and decided to give them a call as I thought their products would suit our clients. One of their Business Development Managers (BDMs) paid a visit and we’ve grown our relationship since then. Their products are fantastic and fit well with the work we do, which is heavily property investor-focused. Our client profile is similar to that which Shawbrook lends to, and we have a great relationship with Pete Turner, their BDM for London and the Southeast.

“REF Capital’s clients are mainly property developers, property investors and professional landlords, and the vast majority of our work with Shawbrook revolves around short-term loans (STLs). Shawbrook has multiple products that cater to every type of property investor and we’ve therefore worked on a variety of deals together. Some investors wish to exit their development finance loan with another lender once the property in question has been constructed, either using an STL while the property sells or a buy-to-let (BTL) product if they wish to retain it.  Other clients choose an STL to purchase a property whilst waiting for planning permission to be granted and exit using development finance.

“We also have a roughly equal number of clients who are looking to purchase and ones who wish to re-mortgage. We’ve also worked on some large BTL projects. As rental yields aren’t that high, property investors in London are relying on the capital growth for their income before selling on in the future.

“Being based in London, our clients tend to hail from the capital and the Southeast, but we also work with expats who live abroad and want a BTL property, foreign investors who want a residence in London and foreign nationals who are based elsewhere but want to invest in a London property.”
