We speak to head of sales, Ivan Vizor:

What is the best thing about being in the bridging finance business?

The diversity of the sector, the innovation of the lenders and the endless new scenarios that clients present to us which means every day brings new challenges and opportunities. We have a fantastic team at Clever who are able to structure so many complex solutions for our clients, which is why we love this industry.

What keeps you focussed?

The constant pace of change and the desire to give our clients the service and outcomes they need keeps your focus polarised. Competition is fierce and we at Clever work tirelessly to stay right on top of our game. As Head of Sales I need to ensure the right message is given to my sales team to give them every opportunity to hit their targets, and the company’s.

What qualities do you look for in your employees or colleagues?

A solid business focus in the day, maintaining a positive attitude ensuring our  client needs are  paramount, fighting to smash targets and having the right temperament to work with a great bunch of team mates.

And after work, a beer, a laugh, and no work talk unless it involves a laugh at the MD’s expense!

Are you an optimist or a pessimist?

The eternal optimist, life is fantastic, but if you’re going through a tough time….. keep going!

What did you want to be as a child?

A football player or a soldier.  I got to do my soldier bit in the parachute regiment , but still awaiting the call from Pep Guardiola, although probably only as a boot-lacer these days!

What will be the greatest challenge facing the bridging industry in the coming months?

The sector’s, and more importantly the lenders’, ability to adapt to the volatile political landscape. The uncertainty surrounding Brexit and even as we speak, the extraordinary results of the general election have just been announced and what looked certain yesterday looks very different again today, and I’m sure will change again tomorrow. Lender innovation and courage is now needed to ensure positive funding continues and Clever Lending will continue to convey that innovation to our brokers.

Who or what makes you laugh?

That’s a tough one in that I spend much of my life laughing, my wife and kids genuinely have me in stitches, ‘some’ of my mates and work colleagues have a great sense of humour too. And then anything from Micky Flanagan or Rod Gilbert will fold me over as well.

Do you dread Monday mornings?

Only if Man City lose the day before! With regards to work or life, never!

If you dread Mondays, make a change, there are many fantastic ‘Mondays’ out there!

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

My admin! My MD constantly pulls me up on it. What can I say, I like to sell!!

With whom would you most like to have dinner?

Leonardo DiCaprio, one of my favourite actors and genuine rags-to-riches life. Noel Gallagher (Oasis) for music and football talk, and he would have to bring the guitar.  Angelina Jolie to, along with me, add the glamour and her inspirational life story. Rod Gilbert for the comedy, and I’ve just realised this would be an expensive dinner so I invite Sam Kirtikar, the boss, along for his stimulating conversation (and fat wallet!).
