Gary Smith

Equifinance, the specialist second charge mortgage lender, has appointed the highly experienced Gary Smith as General Manager with overall control of Operations for both New Business Underwriting and Servicing.

Gary brings with him 38 years of experience in the lending market with 18 years of that in the non-conforming sector for both first and second charges.  Gary was previously at Swift Advances for many years and with his knowledge and experience in our sector we are committed to delivering a product range and service proposition to further enhance our already successful operation.

With Gary on board it has also provided the opportunity to increase the support to introducer partners in achieving increased business levels. To this end, Andy Smith will take up the role of Broker Liaison Manager allowing him to be available to spend more time in the field visiting and introducer teams whilst still being a lead for any technical queries they may have with complex cases. Andy will also continue to hold an underwriting mandate and as such can approve cases on site.

Equifinance cater for particular niches within the second charge market by striving to assist customers who have experienced financial difficulties in the past and provide access to products that those customers might be excluded from.

Tony Marshall, managing director at Equifinance, said:

“I am delighted to announce the arrival of Gary to the Equifinance team. As we grow the business it’s very exciting to be able to have such an experienced professional as Gary helping to deliver business growth while at the same time delivering a first class service to our business partners.

“I’m also delighted that Andy Smith will now be developing his role with our broker partners and spreading the word about Equifinance processes, products and solutions.

“We have a real desire to identify new opportunities and to increase our growth in the second charge market and I’m confident these two appointments will help us deliver those objectives.”

“I’m very pleased with my new role at Equifinance and being part of an innovative and forward-thinking team. With my industry insights and knowledge of the second charge sector I’m relishing developing new business for the company and increasing business levels to achieve their exciting plans for growth.”
