Brightstar is delighted today to announce the official opening of its ‘Wellbeing Room’ as part of the recently extended premises at its Billericay Hub.

All part of the Mental Health Action Plan for 2017, good mental health and wellbeing of the Brightstar team has been given an extra boost by the provision of this dedicated ‘chill-out’ area.

Indeed, Brightstar has put into place a Mental Health Action Plan for 2017, aimed at not only raising awareness around the whole issue of mental health and raising funds for its dedicated mental health charities, but also to support team members with access to support and resources    if needed, including counselling via membership of Anxiety UK.

The Wellbeing Room is a further facet of the support and provision programme that has been implemented and this carefully thought out relaxation area will be available to all team members throughout the working day.

Brightstar has been given support and taken advice from its supported charities Anxiety UK and Mind (Basildon) in designing and equipping the room.

Representatives from Mind were present at the grand opening to ‘cut the ribbon’ and along with Anxiety UK, will be providing some informative sessions about managing stress at work and recognising mental health issues in oneself and others.

Director of People Development, Clare Jupp, pictured, commented:

“Mental Health is a crucial issue and Brightstar has been working hard to destigmatise the whole ‘mental health thing’, this including events such as our Mental Health Awareness Week, the establishment of a Charity Committee as well as fundraisers for our charities.

“We are encouraging an open and non-judgmental approach to mental health issues amongst our team and have instigated a group membership of Anxiety UK and access arrangements for counselling and therapy via Basildon Mind so that our team members can gain support if needed.

“Mental Health is high on the agenda and has been brought to the forefront through the help of high profile persons such as sports stars, celebrities and Princes William and Harry and Kate. We want to do our bit to help our team and wider society and think that workplace wellbeing is a key aspect of good mental health.

“Our new Wellbeing Room has been met with enthusiasm and positivity by the team and is available for anyone who is unwell, needs relaxation time or just some private time-out. It is multi-sensory, provides various comforts and relaxation aids and is designed with ultimate relaxation and recovery in mind.”
