Blemain Group overhauls graduate training scheme

Blemain Group, the Manchester-based specialist lender has re-launched its graduate training scheme for 2012.  The new scheme which is now open for applications, will see four successful candidates spend two years on rotation in different parts of the specialist lender’s business. Each rotation will last six months to ensure graduates gain the most from the experience.

The revamped scheme is expected to see the number of applicants double from around 150 in previous years to 300.

In a time when many businesses are reviewing their graduate intake, Blemain Group is investing in a centrally-funded scheme toallow various business units to benefit from fresh thinking graduates without affecting their bottom line.

Applicants that get through the initial application process, will attend assessment days and one-to-one interviews, before getting the opportunity to meet with Blemain Group senior management.

Successful candidates will benefit from a tailored development plan with clear goals and objectives to help their career and their contribution to the business, a competitive salary and a number of employeebenefits.

Kevin Fisher, human resources director at Blemain Group said: “Structured training schemes are a great way for graduates to start their career. As a result of the current economic climate some businesses aren’t taking a long-term approach to their thinking and are reducing their intake. At Blemain Group we are committed to investing in graduates, as they can be the future leaders of the business.”

He continued: “Our graduate programme is now in its fifth year and since its inception, 70% of former recruits have stayed in the business and gone on to management roles in areas ranging from legal projects to customer service. With the new format we expect to see even more graduates applying for an opportunity to work in this exciting industry.”
