Aldermore, the new British bank, has recruited a team of experienced financial professionals who will be developing flexible and bespoke structured funding solutions for small and medium sized businesses throughout the UK.

The team is led by Ian Flaxman, Head of Structured Finance, who has joined Aldermore from Credit Agricole Commercial Finance, where he was Strategic Director. Prior to that Ian developed his career with National Australia Bank, where he was Head of Invoice Finance for Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks.

Ian is supported by Simon Maddocks and Peter Raybould.

Simon joins Aldermore from Barclays Corporate Finance where he was a Director within Sales Finance. Prior to that Simon was a Regional Sales Manager with Five Arrows Commercial Finance, which was part of NM Rothschild.

Peter has more than 19 years experience within the corporate finance market. He joins Aldermore from specialist business recovery firm, FRP Advisory. Prior to that he worked for accountancy group BDO and also worked as part of the structured finance team for Barclays Sales Financing and for KPMG Corporate recovery.

Ian Flaxman said: “There is no doubt that British firms are finding it increasingly difficult to secure finance with a single funding partner which will enable them to leverage the value of their balance sheets. Aldermore’s new structured finance team will be developing an integrated asset-based lending solution for SMEs. I look forward to announcing further details about our proposition during 2012.”

Ian Wilkins, Group Managing Director of Commercial Finance at Aldermore, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Ian, Simon and Peter to Aldermore. The Structured Finance team will play a strategically important role in enabling Aldermore to deliver an end-to-end finance proposition for British businesses. I have no doubt that the team’s extensive experience will enable them make a significant impact and I wish them every success for the future.”

Aldermore has gross assets of more than £1 billion and the bank serves 9,500 borrowers and 50,000 deposit accounts. It also announced recently that it has reached £1 billion of deposits and had raised an additional £62million in equity capital.
