Amicus Property Finance raises almost £17k for the Halcyon Foundation

Four intrepid adventurers from Amicus Property Finance, the award winning short-term lender, have completed the ascent of the highest peak in the Atlas Mountains.

Emma Ryan, Joe Gibson, Rafiq Ahmed and Tasha Chellen scaled the 4,167 metre Jebel Toubkal to highlight what a strong team spirit exists within the company and to raise money for the Halcyon Foundation.

Speaking about the experience Emma Ryan, Head of Redemptions, said:

“Wow, I thought I was fit and my six months training schedule had gone well but I was not really prepared for what we encountered, however, it was for a brilliant cause and to have raised nearly £17K is something all of us at Amicus Property Finance and our friends at Omni Partners are very proud of.

Joe Gibson, Underwriter, takes up the story;

“On the last day we woke at 4am, scaled boulders in the darkness, traversed the ice sheets and reached the summit of Toubkal with the sun beating overhead.  We then descended 2500m and clocked up 13 hours of trekking in a single day.  Knowing that the money we raised was going to the Halcyon Foundation, so they can provide help and support to all those individuals and families affected by autism, made it all worth it.”

Rafiq Ahmed, Finance Manager, also realised his preparation could have been better:

“Within an hour of the ascent on the first of the four days I realised the overwhelming heat and lack of oxygen was going to be one of the major challenges, in the end the team worked well and spirits were high as we pulled together to reach the summit.”

Tash Chellen, Office Manager, summed up the feeling of the adventurers:

“Once we reached civilisation I was telling myself, never again…but now all of us are saying bring on the next Amicus Property Finance team challenge and let’s better £17K.

Keith Aldridge, Managing Director of Amicus Property Finance (APF) was delighted by the team’s achievement:

“We pride ourselves on overcoming challenges at APF, initially I thought this was a big ask from a physical perspective but an even bigger ask to reach the target we set ourselves of £10K for the Halcyon Foundation.

To reach the peak and achieve almost £17K is an outstanding achievement. We are very grateful to all of our business partners who contributed to the success of the venture especially the following who contributed over £250.00 to have their logo displayed on the mountain top:

  • Aztec Property Valuers
  • Brecher Solicitors
  • Brightstar Financial
  • Finance 4 Business
  • Howard Kennedy
  • Moore Blatch Solicitors
  • MTD Property Lawyers

The short-term lending market is a demanding sector and as the Managing Director of a business that is determined to meet those demands, it is very encouraging to know that I have a team of this quality driving our growth programme.
